LSU Academic Degree Programs Assessment Matrix

The LSU Academic Degree Program Assessment Matrix houses an electronic representation of the learning outcomes of each undergraduate and graduate program of study. In sum, each entry represents categorically what students will know and be able to do upon achievement of the degree. Learning Outcomes and Assessment methods are represented in each entry.

Learning Outcomes Reports

To ensure student learning, the faculty of Louisiana State University implement specific learning outcomes assessments for each degree program. Departments develop an annual Learning Outcomes Report that indicates the degree of students’ achievement of core outcomes, explains how analysis of results has led to changes in courses or pedagogies, and indicates which parts of the curriculum appear to be working well. Communication Across the Curriculum

LSU offers students the opportunity to work toward the LSU Distinguished Communicator certification. To achieve this distinction on the official transcript, a student must complete 12 hours of Communication-Intensive Courses with a GPA of 3.0 or better, create a public digital portfolio, create a private portfolio with documents and video that demonstrate their advanced skills, gain public communication experience through one of a variety of campus programs (i.e. service learning, study abroad), and be recognized as using communication for leadership on campus or in the community.
